Scholarship Opportunities

Scholarships

 

Open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students from West Virginia University, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, Hocking College, or Glenville State College majoring in a natural science or related field of study with a demonstrated emphasis on the application of their major to the management of vegetation.


These academic gifts will be awarded to a full-time student who must be registered for the following fall semester. No experience in the field of vegetation management is required but is helpful.


 The association’s two awards are based on student’s financial need and their possible interest in the areas of utilities environmental and vegetation management, controlling invasive plants, reestablishing native plants and their respective forestry or agriculture disciplines.

The Dr. Kenneth Carvell Student Award

 The associations’ primary student assistance gift of $2000.00 to honor Dr. Ken Carvell, WVU Professor Emeritus, Forestry, for his contributions to the utility industry and for his support and guidance to this association and his students. 

The Roger Latham Memorial Student Award

The Roger Latham Memorial Student Award

 

Given in memory of Dr. Roger Latham a former PA Game Commission Research Director and outdoor sportswriter for the Pittsburgh Press. An outdoors man that enjoyed fishing, hunting, and photography. A true conservationist that worked tirelessly with many groups to benefit all who love the outdoor experience. A supporter of the principals of integrated vegetation management.

No minimum GPA is required to apply

No experience in vegetation management is required, but is helpful.

You must be a returning full time enrolled student in the next fall semester to qualify.
